Exactly one year ago, we published our first post, “Baby Teeth” by Tom Batten, in which Tom went through his old CDs and dissected his former musical loves. Since then we’ve been a runaway hit with teens; Gawker linked to us; we’ve gone to the Association of Writers and Writing Programs in Seattle and made plans for a reading at the next AWP in Minneapolis; we’ve submitted stuff to the Pushcart Prize; we’ve interviewed Tom Scharpling and Julie Klausner; we’ve been yelled at by gun nuts and self-righteous Bay Area residents and one anti-semitic songwriter; we’ve published a ton of stuff we’re super-proud of, a different piece more or less every weekday. Pretty good for a website I’m still having to explain to family members and acquaintances isn’t my personal LiveJournal or a porno site or a book or a painting or an imaginary dog.
Seriously though, thanks so much for reading, sharing, and if you’ve ever written for us, especially thanks for that. Onward and upward!
